We at HAND were honored to take part in the visit of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Filippo Grandi, to Syria.

He was received by HAND’s Executive Director, Mr. Saadettin Muvakit, as part of the official delegation invited by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor — a significant step in support of humanitarian efforts in the upcoming phase.

During the visit, emphasis was placed on the role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in facilitating the voluntary and safe return of refugees, strengthening humanitarian action after years of conflict, and creating appropriate conditions to ensure the dignity of returnees and meet their basic needs.

HAND is a trusted partner of UNHCR in several humanitarian projects focused on Syrian refugees, supporting their return in both Lebanon and Syria.
