In response to emergencies affecting informal settlements hosting Syrian refugees in Lebanon, HAND continues to provide timely humanitarian assistance under its ongoing shelter programme in partnership with UNHCR, supporting vulnerable households living in precarious conditions.

Recent adverse weather conditions caused damage to a number of tents and temporary shelters across several settlements. Rapid field assessments conducted by HAND teams confirmed structural damage and weakened insulation, leaving affected families exposed to harsh weather and increased protection and health risks.

To address these urgent needs, HAND activated a rapid emergency shelter response and distributed emergency shelter repair kits to affected households, providing essential materials to enable immediate repairs and reinforce damaged shelters.

The intervention aims to improve the safety and stability of shelter conditions, reduce exposure to environmental and health risks, and prevent further deterioration of already fragile living environments in informal settlements.

Implemented in close coordination with UNHCR and local stakeholders, the response ensured needs-based assistance targeted to the most vulnerable households, delivered in a timely and accountable manner in line with humanitarian standards.
