Damascus – Human Aid and Development (HAND) and Tattari Industrial Group have signed a strategic partnership agreement during the Nass Tex Exhibition at the Damascus Fairgrounds to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Syria's textile and garment sector and enhance the relevance of vocational skills development to labour market demand and private sector needs.
The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration in the design and delivery of competency-based, industry-informed training programmes across a range of textile manufacturing specializations. Drawing on Tattari Industrial Group's technical and industrial expertise, the partnership will support the enhancement of training curricula, upgrading of practical training workshops, capacity development of instructors, and the integration of current manufacturing processes, production systems, quality assurance practices, and occupational standards into vocational training.
The agreement also promotes work-based learning by providing trainees with structured practical training opportunities within operational manufacturing facilities. These placements will enable participants to acquire hands-on technical competencies, strengthen employability skills, and gain practical experience in real production environments, supporting their transition from training to decent employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Saadettin Muvakit, Executive Director of HAND, noted that the partnership forms part of HAND's broader Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Programme, which seeks to strengthen collaboration with the private sector to improve the quality, relevance, and labour market responsiveness of vocational education and training.

The partnership also formalizes and expands the collaboration established over recent months between HAND and Tattari Industrial Group under the Nomu Al Ghurair – Mawared programme, currently implemented in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, and Latakia, with planned expansion to additional governorates across Syria. By strengthening specialized training in the textile sector and reinforcing collaboration between vocational training providers and industry, the partnership aims to create sustainable employment pathways, enhance workforce competitiveness, and contribute to the recovery of Syria's productive sectors and broader economic resilience.
