Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, is a time of deep reflection, compassion, and unity. For millions of Muslims around the world, it serves as a spiritual journey that brings communities together, emphasizing generosity, care for others, and personal growth. Inspired by these values, HAND launched its 2025 Ramadan campaign to uplift vulnerable communities, foster unity, and share the blessings of this sacred month.
Nourishing Both Body and Soul
From the first day of Ramadan, HAND’s team worked tirelessly to ensure that every act of giving carried a deeper meaning than simply providing food. The campaign began with the distribution of 7,500 light Iftar portions to worshippers at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. These meals offered not only nourishment but also an opportunity for spiritual connection at sunset, marking the beginning of a month filled with compassion and reflection.
Community Iftars: Strengthening Bonds
Throughout the holy month, HAND organized nine large-scale community Iftars across key locations in Syria, including:
- Three in Damascus
- Two in Rural Damascus
- Three in Aleppo
- One in Rural Homs
These gatherings provided 9,500 hot Iftar meals, bringing people together in a spirit of unity, comfort, and support. With many families struggling to secure meals during Ramadan, these Iftars offered much-needed relief while also reinforcing the bonds of solidarity within the community.
The campaign intentionally reached a diverse range of beneficiaries, including low-income families, orphans and their guardians, municipal workers, and staff from local education directorates—ensuring that support extended to those who serve and sustain their communities.
Laylat al-Qadr Initiative: Honoring a Sacred Night
To mark Laylat al-Qadr, the most sacred night of Ramadan, HAND launched a special initiative, distributing 5,200 Suhoor packages. This gesture ensured that individuals could observe this profound night of prayer and reflection with dignity and peace, knowing they were well-nourished and supported.
The 2025 Ramadan campaign was not simply about delivering food—it was about restoring human connection, cultivating compassion, and embracing the values of mercy and generosity that define this blessed month. As Ramadan came to a close, its spirit continued to inspire—in every heart touched, every smile shared, and every life uplifted.
